SUMMARY:Spring Music Festival at the MOA: Mavy
DESCRIPTION:At 20 years old\, Mavy Ho-Le is an up-and-coming force to be reckoned with in the instrumental world. Inspired by Lindsey Stirling\, Vanessa Mae\, + the all female string quartet\, BOND\, Mavy features an eclectic mix of music during her sets (classical crossover\, ethnic\, dubstep\, rock)\, alongside with provocative fashion that has raised the eyebrows of the classical community. Originally from the small town of Gorham\, Maine\, Mavy started off her classical endeavors by playing in the Osher School of Music Youth Ensembles. From there\, she ventured into the non-classical realm of music\, experimenting with distortion pedals and purchasing an electric violin at 11 years old. She started performing solo professionally at 17 years old\, where her first ever headlining gig was a sold-out phenomenon at Mayo Street Arts in Portland\, Maine. After the success of her first show\, she won the 2022 Young Stars of Maine Prize as a part of Bay Chamber Music at the Rockport Opera House. She has also performed at the Camden Opera House Blue Cafe\, the Carnaval Maine Festival\, and the Mall of America. Alongside with her solo shows\, she also performs in the Syrian band Bilad El Sham\, featuring renowned Syrian rapper Assasi. Mavy is currently in the process of putting together her first record while balancing a pre-med track and neuroscience major at Bates College.

SUMMARY:Minnesota Musician Spotlight at MOA: Of the Orchard
DESCRIPTION:Minneapolis-based pop-rock band Of The Orchard proudly defines themselves as “not\, not a boy band.” Marked by a tinge of youthful angst\, Of The Orchard pairs a nostalgic sound of 90s and early 2000s rock (Third Eye Blind\, Fall Out Boy\, Jimmy Eat World) with narrative\, sentimental lyrics (Dawes\, Ruston Kelly\, John Mayer). This combination gives listeners thoughtful lyricism supported with upbeat\, hook-driven rock. Their songs tell stories familiar to anyone who’s ever endured the transition into adulthood: finding purpose\, coming to terms with identities you’ve outgrown\, and falling in + out of love.
