Things to Do

This fall in Richfield you’ll find a number of things to do, ranging from those that will pique your interest to those that will fulfill your sense of adventure to those that will satisfy your hunger for great food.

1 – Spend Saturday mornings at the Richfield Farmers Market

What could be a better weekend Fall activity than visiting the Richfield Farmer’s Market in Veterans Park? Open from 8 a.m. – noon each Saturday through October, you’ll find a little of something for everyone at the Market including fresh produce, fresh bread (and donuts), and BBQ.

2 – Take a walk and peep some leaves at Wood Lake Nature Center

One of the true hidden gems of a park Wood Lake Nature Center, is just waiting for you to explore it. Especially in the Fall, when all the wonderful colors of the season show up.

3 – Grab an Olive Burger at Sandy’s Tavern

Try Sandy’s Tavern’s famous Olive Burger, or just go for the tried-and-true California Burger. Whatever your choice, you can wash it down with one of the many Minnesota-based micro-brews on tap at this classic dive bar.

4 – Explore Richfield on bike along the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail

There’s no better time to get out on your bike than the Fall, and Richfield has some of the better bike paths in the Twin Cities. You can even pick up the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail in Richfield…and follow it all the way to Hopkins if you’re ambitious!

5 – Indulge in a decadent dessert at Patrick’s Bakery

The perfect end to any evening is a decadent dessert from Patrick’s Bakery. Whether it’s the Opera Cake, the Fruit Tart, or the Tiramisu, you’ll find something to hit that sweet tooth just right.

6 – Explore PennFest on foot or by bike

Back to full strength after a quiet 2021 due to COVID, PennFest is the ultimate Richfield celebration each Fall. Taking place along Penn Ave. between Highway 62 and 68th St. on Sept. 18 from 1-5 p.m., PennFest features a mix of music, food and games—best explored on foot or by bike.

7 – Go to a Minnesota Whitecaps game at the Richfield Ice Arena

Welcome Richfield’s newest team, the Minnesota Whitecaps, to town this Fall at Richfield Ice Arena starting in November. This women’s hockey team should provide an entertaining night out for the whole family as we start to head into winter.

8 – Visit one of the few all-inclusive playgrounds in the Twin Cities

Accessibility is the rule at Augsburg Park, located right off Nicollet Ave. and 70th St. in Richfield. The playground includes accessible swings, 10-person accessible merry-go-round, ground-level musical instruments, crawl tunnels and inch worms, and a quiet spot when kids need a break from the action. Fully fenced except for entry.
